It’s impractical to store all the information a camera can capture. Even the most technical image quality purist with the highest of standards would not opt for absolutely zero compression. Uncompressed video is huge, and there’s often some form of “compression” happening there. The bayer array, chroma subsampling, and the nonlinear way sensor data is stored is, in and of itself, a form of compression. So the question often times is better off resolved by your own testing than by what you read online. Don’t shoot raw because someone told you pro’s shoot raw. And don’t expect it to make as large a difference in your images as some indicate.
