Choosing a lens (Why I Love Sigma)
Sigma has become a deserving favorite of many professionals over the past few years with their premium “Art” series. Sigma’s 18–35mm f1.8 and 50–100mm f1.8 lenses are my two most-used lense. I prefer working with zooms (see more below). These two lenses are so good I sold (most of) my full frame cameras and have recently been shooting cropped.
Zooms vs. Primes (I’ll take the former)
There was a day when prime lenses were the indisputable choice if image quality was to be prioritized. Not so much anymore. There are some excellent zoom lenses that so closely rival the optical quality and speed (maximum aperture) of their prime counterparts that the convenience advantage makes them superior for me.
Here’s a list of lenses I’ve been curating over many years.
